* I and II Kings
are consistent in their dating of the reigns of
the kings. The last year of a king is also
considered the first year of the next king, thus
year 8 of the reign of Jehoram is year 1 of the
reign of Ahaziah. By comparing the years of the
two Kingdoms the trend is demonstrated so that
when there are no more kings of Israel to compare
to the kings of Judah the trend tells us how to
date the reigns.

|
|
|
| ** The gap of 6 years comes from
time from when Athaliah, the mother of Ahaziah
murdered all of her grandchildren except Joash
(Jehoash), who was hid, until the time he was
brought forward to take the throne at age 7. |
| |
|
|
|
|
| + Azariah was 16, there is an 11
year gap in the number, but if the people waited
until he was 16 before putting him on the throne
that would account for the gap. |

|
|
| Historians tend
to agree that Jehoiachin was released at or about
562-561 BC. That would put creation on or about
4172-4171 BC. The only leeway in dating would be
that which historians would allow for the release
of Jehoiachin. I suppose if he was released
several billion years ago that might leave room
for the theory of theistic-evolution but I don't
think it would be taken very seriously. The
bottom line is this: |
| Either the earth is only about
6,000 years old, or the Bible is wrong. |
